Busy?! Yes! It’s fantastic!

Good problems are the best problems! The past few months have been hectic to put it mildly.

I’ve photographed some gorgeous weddings, and gone to some fantastic locations. It’s been an absolute privilege to photograph these special days for amazing couples.

Amazing day in Herodsfoot - a tiny, but gorgeous village.

More wedding shoots, naturally leads to more editing time, my computer at home has been solidly used, and I suspect that my body weight in coffee has been consumed these these past few months whilst sat at it.

Beautiful day at Knightor Winery with the amazing Caitlin.

This extra editing time has helped me develop more techniques, a better workflow and my selection process has sped up quite a bit.

So what else has kept me away from blogging? I’ve had a lot of enquiries, for this year and 2026 (some 27/28 to!), so extensive email writing and phone calls have kept me away from blogging - this again is a great problem to have and I am fortunate to have it!

Oh …and I’m also managing a hot new wine bar in town, there’s that to I guess!

Poppy has to put up with me going “oooh I have an idea”…and then we run outside to grab a shot!

I’ve got an extensive history in hospitality work, it’s actually something I am very grateful for, as it’s made me a “people person”, able to talk to people from all backgrounds, make people comfortable and communicate very clearly.

I also love social environments, chatting to regulars and guests at a bar, discussing wines, whiskies and being an occasional therapist for people has helped me work within the wedding and event industry rather well.

So yes, I recently got headhunted to run a venue, right on the water front, selling amazing wines - and I’m not shy when it comes to more work and opportunities to take photos, so said yes to the opportunity.

Like any good business, a strong social media presence is important, and that presence is achieved by posting photos and videos! So naturally I take my camera with me to the bar and get photos to promote lifestyle, vibe and products.

Walk down the quay in Looe with a lush bottle of wine…

It’s been great practice for me, as there’s no real time to plan anything, it’s just a case of having an idea, a spare three minutes between serving customers and hoping the light is just right for the photo.

It’s fun to be creative on the spot and when you’ve got time constraints and no gear beyond the camera body and a lens, it’s a great way to practice thinking on your feet, which again is handy for wedding work!

Light was nice, so grab something we sell (literally) and take a photo.

The venue is fun and I am grateful for the extra work to keep me on my toes - so that’s kept me from the blog, that and personal things - I’m planning my best friends stag-do, spending quality time with my partner and all the usual life things that I love to cram in.

…naturally Daisy takes up a good amount of time, I am her pet human.

The busy streak isn’t ending any time soon, I’ve got more weddings booked in this year vs last year, with two coming up shortly at amazing locations, which I can’t wait to cover and then share here!

…so what about the blog? Well I’ve got a few topics planned out and a draft of one that goes in to the technical aspects of what I do, the equipment I carry to a wedding and how I go about editing. So the blog continues, but I won’t be setting any “every month” streaks this year!

As you can probably tell, this blog wasn’t exactly planned, or meticulously planned - I’m writing this whilst consuming chocolate Hobnobs and musing what to cook for lunch, before heading to the bar tonight.

It’s good to be busy, it really is and hopefully I might end up with a blog entry next month, and start on a streak…
